About the Artist
I’m an award-winning artist, designer and art teacher. I’ve been creative my whole life. I enjoy many different forms of art. I enjoy everything from fabric arts, lampworking, sculpture and most currently mixed media. I combine all of those loves into my mixed media artwork.
My art has been exhibited in various places over the years. I love to participate in the community outreach program. The two programs that I currently participate in are Beads of Courage and Bottles of Hope to benefit both children and adults with cancer.
I was introduced to polymer clay in 2011. I fell in love with the mixed media side of creating with polymer clay. I was fascinated by all the things that could be created. I love using polymer clay as a base material. As my own style emerged I found that mixed media was my love. Since first being introduced to polymer clay and mixed media I have attended classes and workshops taught by Christi Friesien, Dawn Schiller, Laurie Mika, Alice Stroppel, Klew and Lisa Pavelka. I have traveled as far as Maryland to attend some of these workshops. I am a voracious reader and have self-taught from many books on all styles of art. I also travel quite a bit and have had the pleasure of spending days on end visiting art museums in Washington D.C., New York and Paris, France. One of my favorite art related adventures was to visit Monet’s garden in Givenry, France.
I love to combine all of these styles together into my own version of mixed media. I love how adding some unique beading or wire work to a piece changes the whole feel of it. A well-placed gear, a fabric inclusion, maybe a rock or sea shell collected while on a vacation all add to the whimsy of each piece I create.
I’m a member of Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego’s beautiful and historic Balboa Park. I have been lucky enough to be a partner in Studio 30. Currently I work out of my home studio with my loving dogs at my feet.
